The changed needs in the athletic activities of a leading international team have made it necessary to draft a project for a new gym within the Angelo Moratti center. It is a new building perfectly inserted in the natural background with a contemporary architecture in dialogue with the needs of landscape protection of the park, through the use of a natural wood covering. One of the most characteristic aspects is that the gym is a sort of “energy hub” of the camp heating system.
The new building for the changing rooms of the first team is a simple volume, sober and functional, designed to concentrate all the spaces provided for the players.
In order to maximize privacy and, at the same time, allow light to filter through the glazed upper crowning, the volume’s base has no further openings. During the night hours, the transparent crowning signals the activity and the presence of the players in the locker room.
A new entrance for the press and for the guests of the sports center. The project aims to overthrow the anonymity of the existing entrance introducing graphics and communication related to the team. The crowning of the existing glass structure with a polished surface is the basis for the implementation of a large sign with the team name and its logo. The new structure allows to raise the proportion of the gutter of the glazed entrance masking the poor quality of the pitched roof the today is visible along the path towards the building.
Between innovation and tradition, the project defines the interaction of the sports center “Angelo Moratti” with the external area. A new brick building hosts the concierge, surveillance, new toilet facilities dedicated to the viewers of the training sessions and provides controlled access to a new space dedicated to the fans.
Within it, a small fully glazed structure can accommodate both a store dedicated to visitors both events related to promotional activities of the club.
The acquisition of the Trotto Park allows the expansion of all the support spaces for the spectators. The main body of the tribunes of the old horse-riding structure becomes the new east entrance to the stadium overlooking a large theme park. The Masterplan includes large sales areas for the team’s products, a new stadium museum and different fan catering offerings are the central functional program of a new large sports center, integrated with the stadium, capable of attracting public not only during events held in San Siro.
The Angelo Moratti Sports Center is one of the most important places in the history of F.C. International where the first team conducts the training sessions. It is a place that has undergone a process of constant and ambitious renewal for a few years, which has set the goal of generating not only new spaces, but also a renewed strategic organization of the already existing areas.
The second volume of Dontstop architecture for FC Internazionale continues the story of the projects signed by the architectural firm for FC Internazionale. The book, written in Italian / English and Chinese, was also useful for the new presidency to understand the transformation processes that characterized the new image of the Appiano Gentile Sports Center and the current image of the San Siro Stadium.
The book is a collection of awards designed and made by Dontstop for FC Internazionale. The first volume recounts the transformation of the Appiano Gentile Sports Center and the developments that took place from 2012 to 2015 at the San Siro Stadium.
The graphic project designed by Dontstop architettura tells the world of FC Internazionale’s youth teams and explains their functioning, the relationships between the different entities and the reference persons involved in the Grassroots Program.
The “Branding Appiano” project involves the graphic treatment of the buildings of the Sports Center in Appiano Gentile redefining a new landscape of buildings coordinated with each other in colors and materials.
The project includes a new coloring of the entire Piramide building with the introduction of FC Internazionale colors, the relocation of the historical dedication plate of the center to “Angelo Moratti” near the entrance and the realization of a new big company logo. The entrances and paths are all themed and in dialogue with each other.
